Sling Blade

Surprisingly an intelligent film about a mentally challenged patient, who murdered his mother and her boyfriend, is released into society several decades later. When he reaches his old town, he hardly recognizes it, but lands a job and makes friends very quickly. He stays with a nice family where a single mother thinks that his presence will be good for her child mostly because he doesn't have a father, only a violent and lazy fiancee who can potentially ruin their life! He becomes attached to this mother/child; perhaps too attached. Billy Bob Thornton does an excellent job portraying the mental patient. The film, however, isn't overwhelming but is still entertaining.
