Tom Hanks plays a lawyer with an advanced state of AID's who claims to have been fired because of it. He sues his firm, with lawyer Denzel Washington representing him, while this deadly disease disintegrates him. This is really the first mainstream film to touch this topic and it will go down in the annals of film history for doing so. Director Jonathan Demme's direction is sublime as well as Tom Hank's blistering performance, where he won his first Academy Award.
