Pascali's Island

Ben Kingsley stars as an informer living on a small Island off the coast of Greece who meets with a phony archaeologist. The archeologist's plan is to lease some land from the governor, pretend he's finding invaluable artifacts on it and rack up the dough he gets when the governor buys the lease back. He's been at this hoax for a number of years, but he has never actually found anything important until he literally stumbles on one. This drama is somewhat dull, but it dramatically picks up pace toward the end. The performances and the beautiful scenery are by far the best aspect of this film.
