The Last Remake of Beau Geste

Angry that his wife produced a daughter and not a son, Lord Gests travels to an orphanage to find a young ‘hero’. He finds one, but what comes with this ‘hero’ is his inseparable twin brother; who turns into the bug-eyed Marty Feldman. Feldman directs in this enjoyable spoof of French Legion films that, unfortunately, possesses an extremely weak plot, a weak ending and mostly poor jokes. It’s made worthwhile by numerous slight gags and all the stars. Peter Ustinov’s performance is the most enjoyable as the one-legged commander.
